Sunlight & Daylight Studies

Our environmental engineering group can provide BRE daylight, sunlight, overshadowing environmental impact assessment s (EIA) or environmental statement (ES) to support planning applications.

We follow the BRE ‘Site layout planning for daylight and sunlight: A guide to good practice using IES Virtual Environmental software.

Daylight and Sunlight StudiesThe report describes;

  • Relevant planning policies with respect to daylight, sunlight and overshadowing
  • Methods used to assess the impacts
  • Baseline conditions currently existing at the Site
  • Potential direct and indirect impacts of the Development (that the scheme layout and massing would have on itself and on existing buildings and amenity spaces in close proximity to the Site)
  • Mitigation measures required to prevent, reduce or offset those impacts
  • Residual impacts of the Development.
